Este trabalho procurou investigar um ponto-chave na constituição do acervo do Museu de Arte de Brasília (MAB): a produção, a execução e a divulgação da mostra intitulada “Sala Brasília”, componente da XII Bienal Internacional de São Paulo, em janeiro de 1976. A mostra nasceu da parceria entre a Fundação Bienal e a Fundação Cultural de Brasília e era, a principio, o início do acervo do Museu do Artista Brasileiro (MArB), planejado para ser implantado na capital federal. Tal enlace entre exposição, museus ‘desejados’ e acervo(s) também permitiu que nos aproximássemos das razões que fizeram com que a capital federal só viesse a ter um museu de arte trinta anos após a sua concepção, bem como dos possíveis porquês da ausência de um museu no projeto inicial. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis paper sought to investigate a key point in the constitution of the collection in the Brasília Art Museum (BAM): the production, the execution and the divulgation of the exhibition entitled “Brasilia Hall”, which was a component of the XII São Paulo International Biennial, in January 1976. The exhibition was born from a partnership between the Biennial Foundation and the Cultural Foundation in Brasília and was, in principle, the beginning of the Museum of the Brazilian Artist collection, planned to be implemented in the Federal Capital. This entwinement between exhibitions, ‘desired’ museums and collection(s), also enabled us to approximate the reasons why the Federal Capital only had an art museum thirty years after its conception and the possible whys as to the absence of a museum in the initial project.
