"The origin: Brancusi. The work: endless column. The interest: the relationship with the past and direct contact with the material. Of the few materials with which I have interacted and with which I have had better communication has been wood. The interest in the work of the Romanian artist and the plasticity of the wood became evident in an idea that stopped being conceived as distant. The seed has its own name: totem. So, I started to find out about totemism thinking about the totem as its side effect. From my research I rescued the essential: The totem is not the ancestor from which all have descended, it is the being that protects and the one that has to be protected. Having not found what I was looking for, I decided to leave it for a moment and follow my instinct: to carve the symbols of what I conceived as my protective past. And revising in it was that it undoubtedly highlighted my reality: the Catholic religion and its churches. Their relationship: the figures arranged in the altarpieces of these churches are protective beings for Catholics, just as some beings of nature are for totemism. The elements that make up the work: moon, sun, flowers and fruits. Its meanings: overwhelmingly universal. Each element emanates in me a memory generated by a person, so the symbols represented in the Altars are possessors of a variety of interpretations within which mine is included. This variety of interpretations was reduced to six from my relationship with each of them. Muisca culture: the area of Colombia where my mother and I were born. Catholic religion: family tradition. Language of flowers and fruits of the nineteenth century: research on the Unknown Lady of Máximo Merizalde. Tarot: a door hidden behind a shoe store by the Rivas passage. Ancient mythology: West."--Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado.
