In this work, it is tried to demonstrate the potential of AI for the creation of computational tools in the field of Earth Sciences. It is special, through artificial vision is to quantify the area of minerals through a chromatic discrimination of them. Therefore, glaucofana, actinolite and two specimen samples are used. In the process changes are made in color space, averaging and gradient filters; and finally, a grouping algorithm known as simple linear iterative clustering that minimizes computation time. A computational tool was made using the programming language known as python and an image analysis library known as scikit-image that are free to use. It was possible to find the area of the different minerals with a high level of precision; although, it is evident that the precision of the area found is conditioned to the shape parameter of the minerals and to the number of microcrystals present in the image, among other factors
