Esta investigación analiza el efecto de la disponibilidad de centros de cuidado infantil del Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF) sobre la oferta laboral de las madres jefas de hogar a nivel nacional, por medio de un algoritmo de bosques aleatorios o Random Forest. Para tal fin se utilizan datos de la Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares (GEIH) por área metropolitana para el año 2018 y se añade una nueva variable suministrada por el ICBF que indica la cantidad de centros disponibles por municipio para la atención integral de niños y niñas entre 0 y 5 años. Los resultados indican que la oferta de centros en cada área es un atributo importante en la participación laboral femenina y este resultado es incluso más relevante para las madres jefas de hogar This research analyzes the effect of the availability of childcare centers of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (ICBF) on the labor supply of the heads of households at the national level, using a Random Forest algorithm. For this purpose, data from the GEIH survey is used by metropolitan area for the year 2018 and a new variable supplied by the ICBF is added to indicate the number of centers available by municipality for the care of kids between 0 and 5 years. The results indicate that the supply of centers in each area is an important attribute in female labor participation and this result is even more relevant for mothers who are heads of household
