This work seeks to design and build a system of anemometry on board a bicycle to study aerodynamic effects. The design of the system was made from a previously built by members of the mechanical engineering department from Universidad de los Andes. In the first place, the opportunities for improvement of the existing system were detected to establish specific requirements and proceed with the design and manufacture of the needed components that make up the new system. In this order of ideas, an anemometer, differential pressure sensor and an instrument for acquiring data are selected. All these components are chosen taking into account that the system must have the lowest possible dimensions and must not generate obstructions with the rider or considerable aerodynamic interference. Also, a support that facilitates the coupling and uncoupling of the anemometry system to the velocipede is design. In the same way, it is taken into account that these elements do not generate large aerodynamic interferences and that facilitates to the cyclist perform experimental tests without having undesired obstructions. On the other hand, with the functional system, calibration tests of the differential pressure sensor and the system as a whole are performed. In first instance, the pressure sensor is calibrated with respect to an inclined column manometer from the manufacturer Dwyer. In second instance, the calibration of the complete system is done in the wind tunnel present in Universidad de los Andes. Finally, outdoor tests were made in order to compare the measurements of the system designed in this project with respect to a "Powermeter SRM" coupled to the bicycle and the previous anemometry system. These tests were performed under calm wind conditions in order to make the data comparable with the "Powermeter SRM". In effect, it is possible to obtain an improved system, which has low dimensions and has easy coupling to the bicycle.
