The present study aimed to explore the conception of gratitude and the identification of aspects that facilitate and hinder the expressions of gratitude in the school context, in a sample of teachers in public and private schools in Bogota. The sample consisted of eight teachers to whom a semi-structured individual interview was applied virtually. This interview was adapted from the study by McDonough (2017). The analyses of the interviews yielded five central themes in the teachers' conceptualizations of gratitude: components of gratitude/feeling valued, promotion of gratitude in the institution, gratitude equals being well, sense of being a teacher/making a difference, being a teacher in times of crisis. The results indicated that teachers understand gratitude as a direct action, and as a promoter of social interactions, and well-being. The findings of this study emphasized the importance of the teachers' perspective and the school context in the study of gratitude. The results of this study can be used as input for the design of gratitude-oriented programs within the school context.
