dc.description.abstractThis is a quantitative research which pretended stablish the correlation between state- trait anxiety and musical performance -- For this goal, in first time, it used the STAI test (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory) by Spielberg, C.D was applied; Gorsuch, R.L & Lushene, R.E, which measures anxiety (trait-state) -- Likewise, it was necessary create an instrument to measure musical performance which was based on five categories: tuning, technique, interpretation, posture and general performance -- Both measurements were carried out in a group of fourteen (14) non-professional students from a music academy in the city of Medellin who performed at a year-end concert -- Despite being a small sample, the results were not conclusive, it could be observed that there is no significant correlation between state-trait anxiety with technique, tuning, posture and general performance -- Nonetheless, it was found that there is a significant correlation between state anxiety (r= -0,654) and trait anxiety (r= -0,730) with interpretation -- These results serve to carry out future studies in which it will be necessary to work with a larger sample and differentiate the musical performance according to the type of instrument used
