Resumen
This work explores the alternative of implementing productive chains between Colombia and the Pacific Alliance’s trading partners to bring Colombian fruits to Asia-Pacific markets where there are no existing trade agreements. The study applies the Revealed Comparative Advantages (RCA) to products in Chapter 8 of the Harmonized System to identify those where Colombia has an advantage over Chile, Mexico, and Peru. The products resulting from the above analysis help to determine the possible transformations they could have and the tariff rates applicable and rules of origin in a trade scenario from Chile, Mexico, and Peru to the destinations of China and Japan. The potential of these production configurations for Colombia is to supply the base raw material of the product to be transformed. The results suggest there are several possibilities of combinations to carry out productive chains. Some of these potential productive chains are further described within the text. Specifically, avocado and guacamole, lemon and lemon juice, mango and mango jam, pineapple and pineapple jam and peach and peach jam.
