The objective of this article is to give knowledge for the orchestral instrumental practice as a pedagogical / practical tool in the training for students of orchestral conducting at the EAFIT University and the University of Antioquia. For this purpose, there were guided interviews with students from both universities. Through this information, each one of the interviews were classified and analyzed manually, obtaining three great categories which are the education , the orchestra and social where the greatest of this practice is reflected.
The study arises from the need to strategic contribution in the approach of the conducting student to the orchestra, taking into account the few opportunities they have to conduct in the city. With this work, it is hoped to contribute a complementary point of view to the training of the conductor in the city of Medellín, as well as to serve to generate new relevant strategies in the field of teaching this profession.
