dc.description.abstractThis article analyzes the obstacles faced by both, the process of setting an agenda of public policies related to peacebuilding (specifically the promotion of infraestructures of peace at the local level) and, the design and implementation of it in Medellin between 2008 and 2015 -- The article also takes into account the most relevant theoretical debates within the peacebuilding literature in order to analyze two peace initiatives that can be regarded as representative of the peace building efforts at the local level in Medellin during the chosen period -- Finally, the article argues in favor of creating and promoting an interdependent, dynamic, adaptive and sustainable peace system that makes it possible to guarantee the overcoming of high rates of violence and the non-relapse in urban armed conflicts in Medellín
