Sobre medios de comunicación y escuela se han presentado diversas investigaciones en las cuales algunos centran su punto de atención en los contenidos y lo que estos producen en los espectadores. Como casos puntuales se han desarrollado trabajos buscando comprender el efecto que tienen los contenidos sobre los estudiantes en la escuela, y como estos pueden afectar o reforzar el proceso de aprendizaje. La televisión ha realizado acercamientos hacia el campo de la educación, buscando que la incluyan como una herramienta para el aprendizaje o la adquisición de saberes o conocimientos. Varios ejemplos se pueden rastrear en América, en los cuales el tablero se complementa con la pantalla del televisor para que el audiovisual sea el que le trasmita el saber. Programas como Plaza Sésamo o el proyecto de Discovery en la escuela para Latinoamérica, la televisión educativa y cultural en la década de los 60´s en Colombia, son algunos de los ejemplos de esta intensión. En este asunto el espectador como sujeto que consume un producto pierde el protagonismo dejando en un primer plano a la industria de la televisión y su proceso en la distribución de los variados elementos que componen la industria cultural. Así mismo la escuela, entendida como institución educativa, es tomada como un espacio aislado de las realidades que se suceden en el intercambio de saberes y conceptos, resultado de las interacciones cotidianas del sujeto y su entorno. Este trabajo busca entender la articulación del contenido propuesto por la televisión, la apropiación que el estudiante realiza de ese contenido y como dentro de la escuela, ese contenido,
se dispersa en medio de las clases y los espacios de socialización de los estudiantes, siendo reinterpretado y apropiado por los jóvenes para el proceso de la construcción de su identidad.
