This work of degree emerges as a need raised by the company GERT S.A. to increase the production of their raw material, which is in the form of pellets of recycled plastic, for use in the later processes of the company and thus increase the productive rate and meet the needs of the market with their finished products. This requires the start-up of a plastic extruder that is in its facilities in a non-operational state as its parts were used as spare parts for other extruders when they have breakdowns in some of its components. The aim of the project is to present an alternative design for the plastic extrusion machine, repowering its systems to more current ones.
The design process of the plastic extruder machine is composed of four main stages. These have been developed throughout the document in the following order: Data collection 1 - Evaluation of the components and systems of the machine 2 - Design of the extruder machine with its new parts 3 - Repowering of the extruder machine. These activities aim to provide guidance in the process of design and repowering of the extruder machine, highlighting the development conditions by the company, in which it is necessary to reuse the equipment that presents optimum operating conditions to limit the costs in the final result.
This document is intended to expose the steps that were followed to carry out the design process in order to improve aspects of both operability and safety in the machine. The final result will be a design with repowering in its structure and systems based on the original extruder machine to meet the needs of the company
