The present project aims to develop an interactive multimedia experience as a means of raising awareness about the participation and recognition of the role and impact of women in the engineering field, mainly due to the evident lack of female role models and the low visibility of their achievements in the historical and collective memory that is reflected in the low percentage of women enrolled in engineering courses, and in the high dropout rate in these careers. This document describes the detailed process carried out for its development, all under the framework of the MPIu+a methodology, which is based on the recognition and understanding of the user. Thus, this document exposes the problem statement, antecedents, objectives and key concepts in the theoretical framework. Furthermore, it presents the research carried out for the analysis of the context, alongside the user-centered approach through surveys that allowed the specification of the user's profile and the establishment of the requirements, both functional and nonfunctional, on which it was designed, implemented and evaluated through different prototypes. In this way, the result obtained comprises an illustrated interactive digital book called "On the Shoulders of Giants: Pioneers of Engineering in Latin America", which gives visibility to three female engineering role models, and a web platform that provides information on the problem’s context. Lastly, the results were evaluated through user and expert tests, applying usability methods such as completing user tasks, thinking aloud method, SUS questionnaire and heuristic evaluation, all of them which allowed obtaining direct feedback from the target audience, together with the ability to analyze possible existing problems in the functional system, later attending and solving them. In addition, mostly positive feedback was evidenced, indicating a high degree of user satisfaction, allowing for future scenarios with larger scopes that include new functionalities.
