This degree work focused on the design, elaboration, and verification of a singlephase modular multilevel inverter of 500w at 120 Vrms, due to the need to implement
a device for the conversion of electrical energy in the SmartGrids & MicroGrids
research hotbed of the university. Autonomous of the West. The main objective was
to implement a scalar control on a single-phase nine-level MMC converter starting
from a DC source. A methodology with a qualitative and quantitative approach was
proposed on the implementation of said device. Thus, obtaining a fully functional
hardware under the design criteria presented later and IEEE 519-2014 regulations
that regulate harmonic distortion at the point of connection to the network.
