Un territorio es competitivo cuando es capaz de enfrentar la competencia del mercado y al mismo tiempo garantizar una sostenibilidad social, ambiental y cultural. Esto basado en el aprovechamiento de los recursos, redes y relaciones interterritoriales (European Leader Observatory, 1997, p. 5). De acuerdo con esto, la competitividad se define como la importancia que tiene un territorio de integrar la productividad con el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de los asociados, de respetar los derechos ambientales y de promover el emprendimiento y la educación por medio de políticas gubernamentales y sociales (Burbano Vallejo, Gonzales Cabo, y Moreno, 2011, p. 62).
El objetivo de este estudio es caracterizar, en términos sociales, institucionales, económicos, culturales y ambientales el municipio de Caldono. Cuyo fin, es identificar las fortalezas locales que se convierten en potencialidades para contribuir con el desarrollo de la competitividad territorial de la Región Pacífico de Colombia.
A través de este documento perfil se pretende mostrar un panorama informativo del estado actual del municipio. Centrándose en aquellos indicadores que se encuentren en mejor posición que el promedio de los municipios del departamento del Cauca y de la Región Pacifico, y que se identifiquen como fortalezas locales. Los resultados concluyeron que el municipio de Caldono registra un nivel de desarrollo medio, medido a través del índice de desarrollo humano. According to this, competitiveness is defined as the importance that a territory has of integrating productivity, improvement the quality of life, respect environmental rights and promote entrepreneurship and education through governmental and social policies (Burbano Vallejo, Gonzales Cabo, y Moreno, 2011, p. 62).
The objective of this study is to characterize, in social, institutional, economic, cultural and environmental terms, the township of Caldono. Whose purpose is to identify local strengths that become potentialities to contribute to the development of territorial competitiveness of the Pacific Region of Colombia.
Through this profile document is intended to show an informative panorama of the current condition of the township. It focuses on those indicators that are in a better position than the average of the townships of the department of Cauca and the Pacific Region, and those must be identified as local strengths. The results concluded that Caldono registers a medium level of development, measured through the human development index. In addition, it excels in primary production and cultural diversity
