Resumen
Reflecting on prevention as a concept and principle in environmental thought is a useful opportunity to apply the ethical principle of responsibility outlined by Hans Jonas, who argues for a responsible approach to the environment, to preserve it for future generations. In this sense, prevention is also a mechanism for environmental management that can be used to respond to a given risk in a manner appropriate to its unique characteristics, its urgency, and its potential social, economic, and environmental consequences. In this work, the author calls for a multidisciplinary debate on some of the current issues in environmental risk management, from uncertainty and economic analysis to environmental restoration, as a dissuasive mechanism from the perspective of civic responsibility.
