Describing the best patient safety practices in surgical procedures become the best tool that health institutions should adopt within the framework of the patient safety strategy, therefore, when describing them, it can be inferred that there is no a unique practice, but it guarantees that the incorporation of several key elements in favor of the safety of patients in operating rooms, facilitates obtaining the best result for patients, through seeking best practices, and continuously working to identify and address deficiencies in quality and safety. All the practices included in this review, such as the application of Toyota's Lean Methodology, Universal Protocol, Multidisciplinary LVQ and the Declaration of Helsinki, become the best tools for health institutions, since they manage to identify the quality gaps that prevent provide safe care towards a process of continuous improvement. It should be noted that it is important that organizations encourage health personnel to evaluate and reproduce the best patient safety practices in operating rooms, actively participating as an organizational learning process, which manages to transfer these successful experiences, and at the same time, be a element in research and breeding efforts.
