Resumen
Background: Lung transplantation has been performed for more than 30 years with an acceptable and increasing survival rate (1). The pre-transplant quality of life of patients with lung disease is low. Also, the survival rate after the intervention is short compared to that of other solid organs and varies according to the primary pathology. For this reason, the improvement in quality of life is one of the key points in which it is expected to impact. The objective of this study is to report, through a specific instrument and the 6-minute walk test, the health-related quality of life in patients undergoing lung transplantation. Methodology: Descriptive observational study in patients selected in a non-probabilistic way, using the universe of live transplanted patients from 2014 to the present. The St. George scale and the 6-minute walk test were used. Clinical and paraclinical sociodemographic information was collected from the patients and described using descriptive statistics. Results: It was found that most of the transplants in the sample were bipulmonary and due to interstitial pathology. It was found that there is a significant improvement in health-related quality of life as measured by the Saint George test and the 6-minute walk test after lung transplantation. Conclusions: Our results are consistent with those of the literature, however, the small size of our sample must be taken into account.
