Abstract

Gallbladder cancer is a rare malignant disease that is difficult to diagnose in the early stages. Research shows that the diagnostic performance of images is low for gallbladder cancer. In contrast, the minimally invasive surgical approach due to benign biliary pathology and the greater frequency of cholecystectomies has been associated with an increase in the incidental diagnosis of this cancer. Preoperative diagnostic suspicion is important, to plan and perform surgery with an optimal surgical approach, with appropriate techniques, and to prevent the spread of the disease to the peritoneal cavity. However, as regards the possibility of making an accurate and timely preoperative diagnosis, it is not always possible.
