Resumen
This document deals with the applied case of the DMAIC methodology (Definition, Measurement, Analysis, Implementation of improvements and Control) to the rentals department’s process. After analyzing the process flow, which is part of the P2P (procure to pay) area, we found an incorrect follow-up and non-closing of orders that has led to the reworking of accounts payable to suppliers and sometimes to the non-payment of those. Historically, this problem has affected the operation of the company since it generates a loss of credibility from the suppliers, which sometimes leads to the renegotiation of contracts and service holding. This makes P2P to replace the traditional suppliers for new ones that most of the times deliver lower quality, impacting operations and customer’s satisfaction. This work shows how the application of the DMAIC methodology to the rental process leads to an improvement in the number of orders that are successfully paid to suppliers, thus improving the competitive advantages of the company at the supply chain level and strengthening again its reputation before suppliers.
