La invención de la imprenta y los libros incunables: Elementos de la historia del libro para la mejor comprensión de los incunables de la Biblioteca Antigua del Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario

Abstract

This book arose from the work of identifying and reviewing the incunabula books of the Old Library of the Historical Archive of the Universidad del Rosario, work that highlighted the convenience of reviewing and updating the information available on them. With a pedagogical purpose, the author intends to offer clear, complete and updated information on the oldest books that are conserved in this library, the nine incunabula in the strict sense (printed before 1500) and thirty incunabula in the broad sense (printed between 1500 and 1530), all of them of great value. For this purpose, first a synthesis of the history of the book is offered, of great importance to understand different terms and concepts that are used in the context of the first printed books, to later explain the main characteristics of incunabula books, complementing them with supports Graphics taken from the copies that are part of the Old Library catalog. This work aspires to become a starting point for further research, which will result in a better understanding and a fairer assessment of the patrimonial treasures of the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario.
