Abstract
The lack of interest in the waste we produce, and the socio-environmental effects caused by its accumulation, has led to the emergence of environmental groups that modify and share practices that promote care for the environment in the urban space that surrounds them. These new practices give rise to a change in the meaning that participants give to "rubbish" and, therefore, transform the emotional and physical relationship they have with it. The thesis aims to understand how participation in environmental groups, together with the formation of community networks and learning processes, has resulted in a transformation of material perspectives towards organic waste and "rubbish" through the transformation of participants' individual and group daily practices. Through frequent practice, environmental care and informative workshops, participants develop a differentiated perspective on the environment, public space, recycling, and a new view and meaning of "waste".
