Resumen
Within innovation ecosystems, universities are one of the main actors, they invest time, personnel, tools and relationships with other entities in order to make the knowledge generated in them reach the business environment, but these efforts do not always generate the expected results in terms of effective technology transfer and its economic return, which is problematic considering the low funding received by research and innovation processes in Latin America and the pressures they generate within universities. This is why, through a mixed descriptive study, based on the multiple case study method, three universities in the city of Medellín, Colombia were studied, with the aim of identifying the main elements of the technology transfer process, recognizing Risks, such as the incentive system and practices that could be improved, such as the relevance of research or dissemination of new services and products that can be transferred to the environment and whose process represents different challenges for universities.
