0659), 39 (Manzana), 44 (Boliviana), 53 (Coronilla Del Chocó), 59 (Criolla Mediana-2665) y
grosor corteza mesocarpio. (Texto tomado de la fuente) Germplasm banks gather the greatest genetic diversity and variability possible, in order to
safeguard, characterize, evaluate and generate options for promotion and use. The
germplasm bank of guava and related species managed by AGROSAVIA is made up of 41
introductions established in the field, studied through partial molecular and physicalchemical characterizations. This research complements the basic pre-breeding information
for future research programs, highlighting attributes of interest through morphological,
physical, chemical and nutritional variables. The morphological variables were characterized
in the field, while the physical, chemical and nutritional variables in the laboratory. The edible
fraction of the fruits was analyzed using HPLC and scatter diagrams. The multivariate
statistical analysis of the evaluated descriptors allowed the definition of discriminant
variables in order to contribute to the knowledge of the germplasm bank introductions. In the
investigation it was found that the morphological variables that present the greatest variation
in the measures of central tendencies is the length of the pedicel. The variables that had a
normal distribution behavior were the size of the flower, width of the petal and height of the
plant, in addition the characterization of the accessions allowed to highlight the convex shape of the base of the fruit, color of the yellow endocarp, texture of the mesocarp
granulosa and shape of the fruit apex with navel. Likewise, the variables total titratable
acidity and maturity index, and fruit yield, presented the highest coefficients of variation in
the descriptive analysis, representing a greater contribution to the variability of the guava
introductions studied. It was possible to establish that genotypes 17 (Polonuevo), 24 (Puerto
Rico), 26 (Blanca-1), 45 (Cimpa Roja-C-3), 46 (Guadalupe Roja-C-4), 47 (Guadalupe
Blanca), 52 (Unal-003), 54 (Unal-005), 55 (Unal-006), 57 (Unal-008) and 58 (Unal-009),
showed greater vegetative development with high values in stem diameter and crown area
. On the other hand, genotypes 29 (D-13 0659), 39 (Manzana), 44 (Boliviana), 53 (Coronilla
Del Chocó), 59 (Criolla Mediana-2665) and 61 (Paluma), had large flowers due to largely to
the width of its petals. Added to the above is the low size of the plant, the crown area and
the stem diameter. When comparing the introductions, it was possible to determine that
genotype 16 (Coronilla-0330) and 53 (Coronilla del Chocó) have a great similarity between
them. Finally, it was found that the Brix degrees of the studied accessions varied from 4.3
to 10.5, in addition, it was found that the variable polar diameter has a highly significant
correlation p (α = 0.05) and a positive correlation with the variables fruit weight, equatorial
diameter, seminal cavity diameter and mesocarp cortex thickness.
