dc.description.abstract | El 12 de diciembre de 2019, en la ciudad de Wuhan (República Popular de China) se comenzaron a presentar una serie de casos de una neumonía viral en humanos, algunos de los cuales evolucionaron a condiciones críticas, debido a una nueva cepa viral de Coronavirus denominado (SARS-CoV2) que proviene de un patógeno zoonótico. Los hallazgos radiológicos pueden ser útiles en el tamizaje temprano en los pacientes con sospecha de COVID-19, y pueden ayudar también en la evaluación de la severidad y extensión de la enfermedad. Las imágenes de tórax juegan un papel muy importante en la evaluación en los pacientes pediátricos con COVID19. Se destaca la radiografía de tórax, que es una prueba sencilla, asequible y utilizada para el abordaje de los pacientes con síntomas respiratorios. El objetivo de este trabajo es caracterizar y determinar si existe una relación entre los hallazgos radiológicos en las imágenes de tórax en los pacientes pediátricos con diagnóstico de Covid-19 y desenlaces clínicos como hospitalización, estancia hospitalaria prolongada y mortalidad. Se realizo un estudio observacional retrospectivo analítico donde se incluyeron pacientes pediátricos con prueba positiva para COVID-19 y que se les haya realizado una imagen radiológica de tórax en el Hospital de la Misericordia, en el periodo tiempo comprendido entre marzo y diciembre de 2020, en la ciudad de Bogotá. Se encontró que el vidrio esmerilado y las consolidaciones en conjunto con algunas características clínicas están relacionadas con la mortalidad de los pacientes pediátricos con COVID-19. dc.description.abstract | On December 12, 2019, in the city of Wuhan (People's Republic of China), a series of cases of viral pneumonia in humans began to appear, some of which evolved to critical conditions, due to a new viral strain of Coronavirus. called (SARS-CoV2) that comes from a zoonotic pathogen. Radiological findings can be useful in early screening of patients with suspected COVID-19, and can also help in the evaluation of the severity and extent of the disease. Chest imaging plays a very important role in the evaluation of pediatric patients with COVID19. Chest radiography stands out, as it is a simple, affordable test used for the management of patients with respiratory symptoms. The objective of this work is to characterize and determine if there is a relationship between radiological findings in chest images in pediatric patients diagnosed with Covid-19 and clinical outcomes such as hospitalization, prolonged hospital stay and mortality. An analytical retrospective observational study was carried out, including pediatric patients with a positive test for COVID-19 and who had undergone a radiological image of the chest at the Hospital de la Misericordia, in the period between March and December 2020, in the city of Bogota. Ground glass and consolidations in conjunction with some clinical features were found to be related to mortality in pediatric patients with COVID-19. | |
