Abstract: In this paper, studies of synthesis, structural characterization and antimicrobial activity of palladium(II) and silver(I) complexes with Schiff base ligands type thiosemicarbazones were reviewed. The first chapter presents a brief discussion on the general characteristics of Schiff bases as binders and structural characteristics of these, thiosemicarbazones (tautomería tioltiona, coordination modes, among others. And a description of the reported methodologies of the synthesis of Schiff base binders, thiosemicarbazone type and palladium(II) and silver(I) complexes, as well as the reaction conditions used. The second chapter describes the structural characterization for the identification and classification of thiosemicarbazone ligands and their palladium(II) and silver(I) complexes according to their chemical behavior, based on the results found in different investigations, and by different analytical techniques such as Absorption spectroscopy in the infrared (IR) region, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (MNR) and X-ray diffraction (monocrosital DRX). Also, antimicrobial activity results of these compounds are collected. Finally, in chapter three a discussion is held on the factors and mechanisms that control the antimicrobial action of complexes of palladium(II) and silver(I) thiosemicarbazones.
