Además, se han realizado pruebas de heterogeneidad a nivel de sexo, estrato socioeconómico y grupos etarios para encontrar aquellos grupos poblacionales en los que el sistema tiene un mayor efecto. dc.description.abstract | Bus rapid transit (BRT) systems have gained popularity in recent years as a cost-efficient alternative to provide cities with a sustainable public transport system that meets the needs of all its inhabitants. This research aims to determine the link between Transcaribe (Cartagena's BRT system) and the employment conditions of its inhabitants, using data from the 2018 census, employment, and business data from the 500 Cartagena Companies Report, and information from the amenities and the location of the Transcaribe stations, taken from the National Georeferencing Framework of the year 2017. The research uses 135,391 observations of heads of household. In the estimation, the most common identification strategies according to the empirical literature review were used: A Logit model to estimate the effect of accessibility to Transcaribe on the probability of being employed, as well as the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) method, that allowed comparing the areas of the city with access to Transcaribe with those without nearby stations, to find the Average Treatment Effect of public transport on employment. The research found that proximity to a Transcaribe station increases the probability of being employed and accessibility to the BRT in Cartagena has an average positive impact between 4% and 10% on employment. At the end, heterogeneity tests were carried out for gender, age groups, and socioeconomic strata to find the population in which the system had a greater effect. | |
