The main objective of the research is to obtain fresh properties of a self-compacting concrete with reclaimed granulated HDPE addition. This will compare the results of the various tests required to find the properties in the fresh state such as filling capacity, throughput, resistance, segregation and rheological properties according by the use of the ICAR 5000 rheometer, and the resistance to compression (property in hardened state).
It was decided to use 8%, 10% and 12% of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) as part of the fine aggregate. The tests carried out are: the slump flow test, it measures indirectly and relates the fluidity of the mixture and is related to the filling capacity, the leakage test under the Slump Flow leads to an indirect concept of the viscosity of the mixture, the Japanese ring or J-Ring test represents an indirect value of the resistance to blocking and fluidity, the L-box to fluidity and the column of segregation indirectly measures the segregation of the mixture. From the results obtained from these tests, it is concluded that the mixture of self-compacting concrete complies with the provisions of Colombian and international regulations, for the use of this concrete. The main characteristics of these concrete are that they present considerable blockage in the Ring test. J, therefore, it is necessary to print placement energy, when the concrete is being poured, but not in excess, since the HDPE could float, while in the filling capacity and segregation tests, the results met with the indicators present in the literature.
According to the data obtained by the ICAR 5000 Rheometer, it is concluded that concrete with HDPE modification has a lower creep stress and a lower maximum shear stress than that of standard concrete, for this reason, the concrete is said to have a better workability. In addition, the compressive strength was measured, which showed that it decreases by approximately 16% compared to the standard sample, it is a reality that this is the main indicator in the design of structures, however, Concrete modified with HDPE is a solution that supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) promulgated by the United Nations (UN), because it could reduce plastic pollution and for this reason promote innovation and protect the planet.
