This article develops a methodology for critical discourse analysis of Mapuche perceived discrimination in their intergroup relationship with non-Mapuche in Temuco and Santiago, Chile. The model for analysis includes argumentation and topoi and intertextual from Wodak's (2003) historical discursive approach, Searle's (1979) taxonomy of speech acts, and Mellor (2003) verbal and behavioural categories proposed by. This work involves on five levels of analysis: themes, argumentation, speech acts, semantic argumentative strategies, and intertextuality. The proposal is theme analysis, the incorporation of speech acts to the analysis of argumentation and the connectivity of semantic strategies with the illocutionary force of speech acts. Results reveal that the relationship between the mainstream society and the Mapuche is manifested by discriminatory practices, both verbal and behavioural, by means of themes, such as name-calling, remarks, segregation, inferiorization, observation and ignoring.
