Resumen
This paper emphasizes the necessity of positioning a teaching of geography that favors the development of geographic thinking in students of the Chilean school system. The goal is that they acquire geographic cornpetences to interact in a conscious and responsible manner in their geographic space. To achieve this, we proposed a teaching sequence to carry out a field work project, in the central sector of the city of Temuco, using and inquiry methodology. It is argued that its implementation would come to complement and enrich the didactic dispositions and orientations that are present in the study plans and curricula established by the Chilean Ministry of Education, for the subjects of History, Geography and Social Sciences.
