Eficiencia de la electrocoagulación para la reducción de los niveles de DBO5 y DQO en los lixiviados generados en el relleno sanitario “El Zapallal” 2015

El objetivo de la presente investigación fue determinar la eficiencia de la
electrocoagulación en la reducción de los niveles de la Demanda Bioquímica de
Oxigeno (DBO5) y la Demanda Química de Oxigeno (DQO) de los lixiviados
generados en el Relleno Sanitario El Zapallal, parámetros que sobrepasan en
800% y 912.7% respectivamente, considerando los valores máximos admisibles
establecidos en la Resolución de Consejo Directivo N° 044-2012-SUNASS-CD y
su modificatoria. En la presente investigación inicialmente se realizó la
caracterización de los lixiviados, logrando con ello determinar la concentración de
cada parámetro que lo conforma, principalmente DBO5 y DQO, a fin de determinar
la remoción que se logra con la electrocoagulación. La electrocoagulación se
realizó mediante un equipo elaborado para la presente investigación, el cual está
conformado por un generador eléctrico con regulación de voltaje, pecera con dos
compartimientos, para captación y pre sedimentación y compartimiento para la
reacción, planchas de aluminio y cobre, transmisores de energía (cocodrilos) y
equipo para medición de parámetros de campo. Se logró definir factores
principales para el tratamiento (Potencial eléctrico (voltios) y duración de
operación) para el sistema de remediación de los lixiviados, teniendo en cuenta
los valores máximos en la disminución de los valores de BDO5 y DQO; obtenidos
al reducir o aumentar el potencial eléctrico (voltios) y duración del tratamiento,
manteniendo constante el volumen de lixiviado, tipo de electrodos y distancia
entre electrodos. Por último, se determinó un eficiencia de 39.9% de remoción del
DBO5 y 7.4% en DQO, al aplicar la electrocoagulación.
