Hipertensión arterial y deterioro cognitivo en adultos mayores Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo, julio - diciembre 2019

Se realizó una investigación de tipo casos y controles con una población de 392 pacientes
hospitalizados en el Servicio de Medicina Interna del Hospital Regional Docente de
Trujillo durante Julio a Diciembre del 2019 para lo cual se tomó una muestra aleatoria de
192 sujetos ( 64 casos y 128 controles) que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión.
Se halló que existe mayor riesgo de presentar deterioro cognitivo en 60,9% de los
pacientes hipertensos. Se observó que el 59,1% de los hipertensos no controlados
presentaron deterioro cognitivo y el 61,9% de los hipertensos controlados presenta
deterioro cognitivo. Se encontró que en la hipertensión arterial estadio 1 hubo deterioro
cognitivo leve en 38,1% seguido de deterioro cognitivo moderado en el 19,0%. En el
estadio 2 de hipertensión arterial, el 34,4% presento deterioro cognitivo leve y en el
estadio 3 de hipertensión arterial hubo deterioro cognitivo moderado en 57,1% de los
pacientes.
Se concluye que la hipertensión arterial se relaciona con el deterioro cognitivo, tanto en
los pacientes hipertensos no controlados como en los controlados y, en el estadio 1 se
evidenció el predominio del deterioro cognitivo leve.
