Estadística por proyectos, construcción de tablas y gráficas en el análisis exploratorio de datos

Abstract

Statistics today have gained great importance in aspects such as culture, professional work and research; This phenomenon is due to the abundance of information that a citizen must face in his daily work. In the teaching and learning processes of the construction of tables and graphs some difficulties arise, which has raised a reflection on how to transform the way of teaching statistics, so that students feel motivated, this is the reason why which constitutes the essence of this research, in order to improve teaching practice. The research aims to analyze the teaching and learning processes in the exploratory data analysis, through the methodology by projects. The study was carried out at the undergraduate level with engineering students, with a qualitative research approach, since it is intended to explore and contextualize an educational reality; in particular, describe the interactions that occur in the classroom; its implementation and evaluation allowed to describe the role of teacher and students; Likewise, the structural elements of some graphics included in the projects presented by the students were characterized.

La estadística en la actualidad ha cobrado gran importancia en aspectos tales como la cultura, el trabajo profesional y la investigación; este fenómeno se debe a la abundancia de información a la que un ciudadano debe enfrentarse en su trabajo diario. En los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje de la construcción de tablas y gráficas se presentan algunas dificultades, lo que ha suscitado hacer una reflexión acerca de cómo transformar la forma de enseñar estadística, de manera que los estudiantes se sientan motivados, es ésta la razón por la que se constituye la esencia de esta investigación, con la finalidad de mejorar la práctica docente. La investigación se propone analizar los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje en el análisis exploratorio de datos, a través de la metodología por proyectos. El estudio se realizó a nivel de pregrado con estudiantes de ingeniería, con un enfoque de investigación cualitativo, pues se pretende explorar y contextualizar una realidad educativa; en particular, describir las interacciones que ocurren en el aula de clase; su implementación y evaluación permitieron describir el rol de profesor y de los estudiantes; así mismo, se caracterizaron los elementos estructurales de algunos gráficos incluidos en los proyectos presentados por los estudiantes.
