Resumen
En el campo experimental INTA-La María
(latitud: 28º 03'; longitud 64º 15' y altitud:
1995/96 a 1999/2000.
• precipitación total a campo abierto (PT)
• agua que atraviesa el dosel (follaje)
• escurrimiento a través de ramas y troncos
• porcentaje de precipitación retenido por la
copa arbórea Objective of this experiment was to
assess the quantity and percentage of the
rain retained by the leaves and branches of
the vegetation, mainly forests, in the Chaco
area. Forests are composed by tree species
such as quebracho (Schinopsis quebracho
colorado y Aspidosperma quebracho blanco)
, approx. 20 m of height and other species
of lesser height, such as Prosopis, Acacia,
Zizyphus, etc.
The period of study was from 1995/96
to 1999/2000. This work was carried out in
the semiarid Chaco of Santiago del Estero,
Argentina, at the INTA Santiago del Estero
Experimental Station (latitude: 28º 03',
longitude: 64º 15' and 169 masl).
Interception was assessed by comparing
rainfall measurements taken inside
and outside of the forests, using micro rain
collectors and bands around the trunks of
the trees (collars), respectively. There is a
time delay for rainfall water to reach the
ground, being a great amount retained by
leaves and branches. The major rainfall
interception corresponded to the summer
season (22,55 %) being also this the period
of mayor vegetation growth. The minor
amounts occur in winter (18,81 %). Total rain Fil: Acuña, Luis Roberto. Fil: Juárez, María Luisa .
