Resumen
Artículo para optar al grado de Licenciada en Educación. Whether fostering autonomy should be an educational goal or not has been largely discussed over the past years. According to Hand (2006), none of the ordinary senses of autonomy justify conceiving it as an aim for teaching. On the other hand, Kumaravadivelu (1994) argues that learning a second language is an autonomous activity in nature, so it turns to be a necessary objective. Thus, following Kumaravadivelu’s beliefs, the idea of autonomy as an educational goal will be tested inside the classroom to fulfill the requirement of a school that stands for autonomous and integral learning. In the intervention, students will visualize their learning and problematize controversial topics through lessons structured under a goal oriented task-based approach. Issues such as motivation, organized thinking and freedom of doing will be addressed as the main obstacles to students’ performance.
