dc.description.abstractThe current article is about the use of databases in libraries and information centers. It begins with a short definition and evolution of the databases, and their modeling; by explaining the two most – frequently used models nowadays: entity – relation model and relational model. Also the basic functions of the SQL language will be explained; the language which allows the creation and interaction with the database. For explaining the topics, we will use and ordinary case that applies to any library.
