Taped conference proceedings. This conference was sponsored by The National Council of Indian Culture of Trinidad and Tobago and the Institute of Social and Economic Research, The University of the West Indies. Papers were presented around the following themes: "The Civilizational Heritage of Indian Diasporic Communities"; "The Historical Context of the Indian Diaspora"; "Family Histories and Biographies"; "Gender Issues in the Diaspora"; "Gender Relations in the Indian Diaspora"; “Power Relations in the Indian Diaspora"; "Race Relations"; "Cultural Reconstruction in North America"; "Cultural Reconstruction in Trinidad and Tobago and South Africa"; 'Music and Language in the Diaspora". A copy of the programme is filed with the tapes. Copies of the papers presented at the conference are available at The Main Libary, St. Augustine.
