By studying of the crisis of one of the most important textile companies in
Colombia's history, is to analyze what factors may lead a company to its closure,
and what are all the implications that can bring a mismanagement of resources, the
welfare of workers and the economic situation that crosses the country.
Because of the general crisis of the economy in the 90s, the difficulties of the textile
industry, the stormy relations between workers and managers, and the powerful
trade union immunity, the flagship company of the coffee region of the country and
of the best known textile companies in Colombia, the Producer manufactures
knitwear and fabrics UNICA SA, suffered an irreparable crisis that lasted over 10
years, which led to its closure, the November 28, 2001, after seven decades making
history in Colombia, closed its doors the first Colombian company to make fabric
exports to the United States and, at its best time had more than 1700 employees.
