Resumen
Durante el desarrollo del cerebro, la estimulación sensorial tiene un muy papel muy importante en el establecimiento de la maduración y la poda sináptica. Dichos procesos requieren de la participación de diversos genes para su apropiada funcionalidad. Uno de ellos es FMR-1, el gen que codifica para la Proteína del Retraso Mental Frágil X (FMRP), otro, es la Neuroligina 1, un gen perteneciente a la familia de las Neuroliginas (NLGNs) y la información que se tiene sobre cómo los estímulos sensoriales pueden afectar su expresión, es muy poca aún. Se ha encontrado que el mal funcionamiento tanto de FMR-1 como de NLGN1, se encuentra involucrado en trastornos del desarrollo cognitivo como el Síndrome del X Frágil y los Trastornos del Espectro Autista (TEA), respectivamente.
