The mesosystems related to the line of severe local storms that affected the western half of Cuba on February 8, 1978 were analyzed. It was proved that the techniques developed in midlatitudes to analyze these systems are applicable in Cuba, and a great variety was found mesosystems in this line of storms, which produced dissimilar types of severe weather, whose presence in Cuba was hardly suspected.
