Resumen
We present a study of the effectiveness of electro acupuncture as an analgesic method for pain generated by the insertion of intrauterine device (DIU) in a period of November 2010 to September 2011, held in a private gynecological results area exposed of 28 patients who were administered electro acupuncture before DIU insertion and compared with the results of 28 patients who were administered the DIU without electro acupuncture, in both groups pain intensity assessed by visual analog scale with values from 0 to 10, where 0 meant no pain and 10 the worst pain, pain was measured immediately, 30 minutes, 8 and 24 hours In the immediate assessment, the problem group recorded an average of 1.07, versus the control group whose average was 5.32. Representing a significant difference (P <0.0001). In the evaluation of 30 minutes, the problem group reported an average of 1.03, while in the control group showed an average of 5.42. Representing a significant difference (P <0.0001). The evaluation of the 8 hours, the group recorded an average de1.07 treatment, while the control group gained an average of 5.32. Representing a significant difference (P <0.0001). In the evaluation of 24 hours, the problem group reported an average of 0.71, compared with the control group showed an average of 2.89. Representing a significant difference (P <0.0001).
By comparing the results obtained with electro acupuncture and without it, significant differences were found for the group treated with electro acupuncture prior to DIU insertion. The efficacy of analgesia was electro acupunctural broadly satisfactory its use is economical, easily reproducible and was without adverse effects.
