Resumen
With the purpose of evaluate the chemical, physical and biological characteristics of composted agricultural residues; the present study was conducted for 180 days. Compost is produced from sugarcane bagasse, wheat straw and orange peel. Of these materials was determined, the particle size distribution, particle size index, the moisture retention curve, the real and apparent density, pH, EC, OM, N, P, K, C / N and IG. The design was completely random. Analysis of variance showed significant differences (α ≤ 0.05) for each of the variables studied. Bagasse and wheat straw for their physical, chemical and biological weapons were the best materials for use as substrates. Orange peel showed the highest accumulation of coarse particles and the percentage of water readily available, the higher pH and higher germination rate and therefore not considered appropriate for use as a substrate.
