dc.description.abstractA top smelt, Atherinops with a badly malformed mouth, together with a number of normal siblings, was obtained from a couple of ripe spawners collected in Magdalena Bay, B.C.S., México. The abnormal fish was reared in the laboratory up to the juvenile stage (31.5 mm SL). The osteological anomalies are described.
