Resumen
Novel ionic liquids were synthesized with 6 and 8 carbon aliphatic chains, with application
for the removal of heavy metal cations, where ionic liquids have the general formula C+ A-,
where C+ represents an organic cation, specifically two typestrioctylmethylammonium and
trihexylmethylammonium; while the anion A-is represented by carboxylic acid derivatives
such as acetate, oxalate, and benzoate, among others. The molecular structures of ionic
liquids were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The
extraction capacity of heavy metal cations through the process of liquid-liquid extraction
was studied. The results showed that 4 ionic liquids removal reached more than 90% of
heavy metal from aqueous solutions of 25 ppm of copper, cobalt, nickel, lead and zinc.
