Panc 3 score como predictor de severidad de pancreatitis aguda en el servicio de urgencias del HGZ No 8

Objective: To determine if the “Panc 3 score” is an effective early severity predictor on patients with acute pancreatitis in the emergency service at the “Hospital General de Zona #8 Doctor Gilberto Flores Izquierdo.
Methods and materials: Patients -at the ranging age of 18 to 90 years old that were admitted to the emergency service at HGZ 8 with a acute pancreatitis diagnosis- were included, in the period ranging from march 1st to November 30st of 2010, these patients received existing severity tests of acute pancreatitis (Ranson, Apache, Glasgow, Baltazar) as the body mass index, including also a thorax X-ray searching for pleural effusions and hematocrit measurement. The impact of these parameters were observed in relation to the rating scales referred to determine if the “Panc 3 score” is an useful early predictor, that is, if at the first contact with the patient with a severe acute pancreatitis.
Study type: An observational, descriptive, longitudinal and prospective study.
Statistical design: The statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 17 program (Statistical Product and Service Solution) for Windows. For this analysis, central tendency measurements were used (mean, trend and median), also frequency and percentages measurements were taken
