Objective. The aim of this study is to determine the magnitude of the decrease in body mass index, percent body fat, glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides and increased HDL in the blood of children who play soccer and Tae Kwon Do Association.
Method. 27 boys and 23 girls aged 6 to 12 years of age, enrolled in the program "Pumitas". Anthropometric measures of weight (Kg), height (m), BMI (kg / m2 in size) and percentage of body fat by Slaughter formula and the measurement of cholesterol, triglycerides, DHL and glucose at baseline and at the end of the training period of 20 weeks. The results were analyzed using measures of central tendency was used typical average and standard deviation as calculation of variability, with p <0.05 as significant difference using SPSS V14.0, anthropometric variables were identified and clinics, and found differences in the population in relation to BMI and percent body fat, cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and glucose.
Results. The body mass index (BMI) group averaged 18.13 Football in both Tae Kwon Do group BMI 18.3 with an increase of 0.06 in soccer and a decrease of 0.35 units for the tae kwon do, in plicometria found grabs triceps skinfold 11.5 + 5.5 mm and 9.5 + subscapular 6.1 mm for soccer, a fat percentage of 15.65% + 6.58 in the soccer group and 16.69% + 6 for tae kwon do, cholesterol of 125 mg / dL + 23.8 mg / dL and 122.2 mg / dL + 28.5 mg / dL, respectively, 61.2 + 25.5 TGL md / dl, HDL 34.8 + 11 mg / dl and glucose of 85.5 + 14.1mg/dL football in children ; TGL 62.5 + 2.18 md / dL. HDL 29.4 + 10.5 md / dL, glucose of 91.4 + 11.6 mg / dL.
Conclusions. In both sports is slightly increased the percentage of fat, but a little more in the group of Tae Kwon Do in the soccer group, unable to distinguish statistically. Cholesterol decreased significantly in both groups slightly favoring the group sport of Tae Kwon Do, but without being able to differentiate the group of players. The case of triglycerides the behavior is quite similar to cholesterol.
