Agricultural production in the Federal District is a very profitable, and that having small areas for various crops have been chosen by the implementation of protected crops where the production cycle is about 3 months. Thus it is possible to have up to 4 production cycles per year. According to the Statistical Information System and Agricultural and Fisheries of the SAGARPA, the production value of 2008 in thousands of pesos is $ 200,223.34 and consists of 54 species that occur in a floor area of 1,683.9 hectares. Is to call attention to the case of Christmas, flowers (plant), geranium, rose and cyclamen.
The main states of the Mexican Republic is engaged in the production of ornamental plants are concentrated in the center of the country, which considers the DF, Estado de Mexico, Morelos, Puebla and Michoacán. Most of the country's ornamental production is sold in Mexico City and in specific markets of Xochimilco plants such as: Market Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Flower Palace Market, San Luis Market, Honeysuckle Market and New Market Cuemanco for the latter two markets are considered major in scope and range of plants, plus more time and tradition in the trade in plants.
This research presents a series of proposals for Producers of Xochimilco, an integrated marketing strategy for ornamental plants such delegation which shows the need for appropriate strategies in order to seize the best opportunities in marketing different sales channels in which plants are handled. This proposal is based on three marketing strategies, trading strategy, distribution strategy and point of sale strategy.
