Resumen
The present research it is about a reflection on the form of peasant life and
how the social reproduction of peasant farmers of the localities "Costa do Bica" and
"Paredão", situated in the city of Piratini, RS, and inserted in the so called "Território
do Alto Camaquã." The development of the research is supported in the
phenomenological method with use the history of life and observation of the
landscape, given that the present study is focused on the essence of being, in the
experience of peasants life and how they perceive their place . The subjects in
question are the result of miscegenation between indigenous (Tupi-Guarani and
tapes), the Azores, Africans (former slaves) on an area that secularism was a frontier
zone in dispute and a territory where predominant power of the grazing landowners
in confrontation with peasant agriculture. It is present in the dispute over this territory
covering the Pampa Biome and reproduce practices that allow the coexistence of
man with nature ensuring the preservation of social and environmental
characteristics. Among the results obtained it is clear that in this territory a new
spatial transformation is underway with the implementation of forestry, which is
changing the rural landscape with a predominance of family livestock farming in large
monoculture plantations of trees. This pressure can be seen in decrease of the
livestock of sheep and goats, and agriculture, which has been losing ground also for
their own consumption, creating the invisibility of these peasants to the state and
society. Can be verified that although the external pressure produced by the
territorialization of the capital in the communities studied the peasants often deny
their traditional knowledge, but noted that these are still latents in his memoirs,
lifestyle and everyday practices. Before all, the peasant family of Costa do Bica and
Paredão, despite adversity, follow resisting for feeling a part of that place.
