Resumen
The present research aimed the specific pattern creation for the 2007 summer
feminine fashion, based on Brazil’s orchids, flowers that are one of the principal
tendencies for the next season, the Tropicalismo. In order to give the study a
theoretical basis, some surface design and textile pattern concepts, aspects about
flora and specifically about orchids found in the country, as well as concepts about
fashion, fashion collection and tendencies were recognized and related. All the data
survey done showed that the specific pattern is being little used by industries and we
did not find specific pattern design with Brazilian Orchids. Thus, the study proposal is
the creation of specific pattern, original, different from the ones the market has
presented, trying by means of producing alternatives, through interpretation
drawings/creation and composition studies, rediscover new designs and propose
pattern projects suitable to feminine articles of clothing. The transfer technique
(termotransference) was chosen to transpose the developed and selected drawings
to the final articles. The articles of clothing were made in viscolycra fabric, which fits
the project needs such as color variety, lightness, and heat resistance. The final
patterns were positioned the best way in each feminine article of clothing, creating a
final set of pattern which highlights the chromatic characteristics of floral reference
and the season fashion tendencies, exploiting the visual variety and the potential of
shapes and colors present in Brazil’s nature focused in textile pattern.
