This study focused on the pedagogical approach using literature in early childhood education aiming to discuss the possibilities of working with literature, in the daily life education of children. The study was carried out at Beija Flor EMEI, in Faxinal do Soturno, RS. Pedagogical actions that enhance children's reading experience were developed. The methodology adopted was action-research because it is an important strategy for the development of teachers and researchers, who can use their studies to improve their teaching and, consequently, the learning of their students. The theoretical framework that supported this study was constructed based on the discussions of Britto (2005), Freire (1997), Mello, (2006), Tripp (2005), Arce and Martins (2007), Souza (1992). Results showed the importance of working with literature, especially fairy tales, since they enable children to develop their imagination. In addition, it is important to emphasize the different ways of exploring storytelling to awaken the child's love of reading, recognizing books as a source of knowledge and pleasure. In this perspective, listening and experiencing different literary texts enriches the process and the development of children, being fundamental to be worked in early childhood education.
